"Thank
you so much for a wonderful three-day getaway. I am simply awestruck by the
beauty of the JX Ranch. The horses and the riding was fantastic, and your
hospitality was, well, so warm and welcoming that you can count on me coming
back. Thanks so much for everything!"

"My sister and my
daughter and I spent many hours on the computer
researching "dude ranches". We found that
most of the ranches were not our idea of how we
wanted to spend spring break - we wanted the
"true cowboy experience". We finally found
the JX Ranch website and our decision was made! From
the time we drove down the long ranch road to start
our vacation until we drove down the long ranch road
ending our vacation, our experience was everything
we could have hoped for! From the bunkhouse to
learning how to saddle, to the wonderful scenery,
cattle round-ups, delicious suppers, awesome horses,
branding, it has truly been a wonderful experience.
Most of all our hosts Mimi and Tom, you life a hard
but wonderful life out here fulfilling your dreams
and you have made our dream come true and we thank
you!"

| The amazing
vistas, sun rises and sun sets, on the JX Ranch as spell-binding.
The colors change from hour to hour - the long shadows of late afternoon
emphasizing the depth of the canyons and the ridges of the mesas, while
the afternoon sun bring out the pastel south-western muted colors.
We have now lived on this ranch for seven years, and never tire of the
beautiful serene and vast scenery in front of us every day. It is
unlike anything we've seen anywhere else. This is mesa country,
and you can see as far as the eye can see.
You can take your easel
and hike or drive up to the top of the Caprock where you have an eagle
eye view of the valley and mesas below - Saddleback Mesa, Mesa Redonda,
to name a few, all with a legend to tell. If you're quiet, you may
catch a deer or an antelope quietly brousing in a canyon, while keeping
an ear cocked for any sign of danger. Coyotes slinking through the
thick underbrush looking for a rodent, a vulture, an eagle or a
red-tailed hawk sailing on the up-winds along the Caprock wall, a lonely
screech and a passing shadow announcing its passage. This is a
private place to unwind, relax, and take in the beauty of nature.
At night, you
will be amazed at the millions of stars on a black sky, undisturbed by
city lights - it never ceases to amaze us as we gaze up into the
universe!
The cabin, which is the old homestead house,
dates back to
the early 1900. It can accommodate up to 5 people; it has 2
separate rooms with 2 beds in one and three beds in the other, plus each has an old
Wagon-wheel sofa which can be used as an extra bed. Each room has its own kitchen and bathroom. The 2 rooms have a connecting door which allows for a
larger group to be together or two separate groups to lock the door between them.
The whole cabin rents for $150/night plus tax. Separately, the
larger room with the fire-place rents for $100/night and the smaller
room for $75/night. Two night minimum. There is a seating area outside
with a charcoal grill for your enjoyment.
